NEW! United States Institute of Peace
Joins Open Source Project
|
|
The United States Institute of Peace www.usip.org and Dialoggers, Inc. www.dialoggers.com have agreed to collaborate on the further development of the Dialog Dashboard, a communications console for online courseware and roleplay simulations.
In his letter of February 1, 2010, Michael Graham, United Institute of Peace Vice President for Management, wrote: Dear Mr. Hart:
I would like to thank you and the other members of the Dialoggers' Team for making the software which you have developed available, not just to the U.S. Institute of Peace, but to all who may wish to utilize it, via open source availability. We believe, as you do, that simulations are a highly effective way of advancing the reach and effectiveness of education and training. This is central to our mission of increasing capacity -- in the U.S. and around the world -- to manage international conflict without violence. The great work by you and your team promises to help us significantly in that endeavor, and should also be of great value to others.
Senior Program Officer Skip Cole of our Education and Training Center will be our point person in utilizing and building upon your software to help us achieve our goals. Future peacebuilders will greatly benefit from your work, as it will enable them to go into the field better equipped to handle the toughest part of their job: making the best possible decisions. We regularly face the challenge of how to make the most of limited resources in support of our mission of helping to prevent and resolve conflict, and to restore lasting stability to areas where conflict has occurred. Being able to make use of a powerful tool such as your software offers great promise to enhance the scope and effectiveness of our work on behalf of peace.
