A SOCIAL LAB FOR UNIVERSITY & PROFESSIONAL COURSES

Conflict Lab’s simulations are designed for university courses, self-study and professional education and certification programs. Course instructors may assign and integrate their own choice of reading and research materials. Through Conflict Lab’s database registration process, players may be assembled from multiple disciplines, multiple campuses or a single course.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONS

Players rate the discussion posts of the characters and complete Peer Evaluation forms for the characters in their group. The scoring software converts the names of characters into the names of players and reports the player scores to course instructors. The evaluation process does not breach the anonymity of characters.

INSTRUCTOR MATERIALS

Instructors receive:

  • A synopsis of the conflict and the plot development;
  • A database with the news stories and other materials for 14 issues of the Conflict Chronicle. The materials provide coaching in Conflict Lab’s structured negotiation process and the debriefing;
  • Conflict Chronicle layout templates for insertion of materials by instructors;
  • Profiles of all characters;
  • FAQ database for instructors;
  • Instructor view of the discussion forums, and
  • Instructions for administrative interventions.
